How to write product descriptions for EU buyers from your own notes

A buyer in Germany asks for your catalogue. You have the facts in a notebook: size, material, weight, colours, packing. But you don't have the words.

AI can write those words. The risk is what it adds. Ask for a product description and it may write "eco-friendly", "certified" or "safe for children". Your notes don't say any of that.

A buyer in Europe may ask you to prove each claim. If you can't, you lose their trust, or worse. Here is how to keep the AI to your own facts.

What to give the AI

Give it your notes, one product on each line. Keep every measurement as you wrote it. For example:

Only write what you know is true. If you are not sure of the weight, leave it out.

What to ask

Copy this into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Put your own notes in the brackets.

Rules:
- One short description per product, with the product name as a heading.
- Use only the details in my notes. Keep every measurement exactly as written.
- Never add a certificate, a test result, or words like eco-friendly, organic, sustainable, natural dyes or safe for.
- Never say a product meets EU rules or any other rules.
- If a buyer would ask something my notes don't answer, write [CHECK: what is missing].
- British spelling. No words like premium, luxurious, world-class or finest.
- Under 70 words per product.

What to check before you use it

Put each description next to your notes. Check these things:

1. Sizes and weights. "120x180 cm" should still be 120 x 180 cm. "240 GSM" should not have changed.
2. Materials. "100% cotton" should not have become "pure organic cotton".
3. New words. Look for any claim that isn't in your notes. Remove it.
4. Colours and packing. Count them. The AI sometimes drops one or adds one.
5. Every [CHECK]. Fill it in from your own records, or delete the line.

If you do hold a certificate, add it to your notes with its exact name. Keep a copy ready, because the buyer may ask for it.

The list of banned words matters most. These are the words AI adds when it tries to make a product sound good. They are also the words a buyer may ask you to prove.

You can use the same request for buyers in the UK or the Middle East. Change "EU" in the first line. For the US, change the spelling rule too.
