Rewrite your BOQ so clients understand every line

You send a client the BOQ. An hour later, they call. "What is BWP ply?" "What does LS mean?" "Why is the ceiling 420?"

Your BOQ is correct. It is written for a carpenter, not for a home owner. AI can rewrite each line in everyday words. But it can also change a rate, or get a sum wrong.

Here is how to get a BOQ your client can read, with every number unchanged.

What to give the AI

Give it your BOQ lines, one per line, like this: item | qty | unit | rate.

Modular kitchen, L-shape, BWP ply, laminate shutters | 1 | lot | 285000

A lump-sum line can have just the item, "LS" and the amount. That's fine.

Rules:
- One numbered entry per line, in the same order.
- For each: a clear item name, then one short line saying what it is in everyday words. Use only what the line says.
- If you are not sure what an abbreviation means, keep it as I wrote it.
- Then "qty unit × rate = amount". Keep qty, unit and rate exactly as I wrote them.
- For a lump-sum line, write "Lump sum = amount".
- End with the subtotal, GST at the rate I gave (if any), and the total. Show each sum.
- Never change or round a quantity, unit or rate.
- Plain text, no table.

Check every number

AI is good with words and less reliable with sums. So check the numbers with a calculator. For the lines above:

• Kitchen: 1 × ₹2,85,000 = ₹2,85,000
• Wardrobes: 2 × ₹96,000 = ₹1,92,000
• False ceiling: 420 × ₹95 = ₹39,900
• TV wall: 1 × ₹68,000 = ₹68,000
• Electrical: lump sum = ₹45,000
• Subtotal: ₹6,29,900

If you typed 18 as your GST rate, GST is ₹1,13,382 and the total is ₹7,43,282. Use the rate you charge. The AI should never choose one for you.

Then check three more things:

1. Quantities and rates. Put the new BOQ next to yours. Every quantity, unit and rate should be the same.
2. The descriptions. Each one should say only what your line says. Remove any brand or grade the AI added.
3. The order. Item 3 should still be item 3, so your site team and the client talk about the same line.

Why this works

The client reads everyday words, and you keep your numbers. "Keep qty, unit and rate exactly as I wrote them" stops the AI from tidying them up.

"Show each sum" puts the maths on the page. You can check each sum yourself, before the client sees it.
